The Annexe drop-in centre

Please note

The information below may currently be incorrect due to the ongoing pandemic. All activities have been suspended, and we are focussing on online church and our community response at this time. Find out more here or get in touch for more information.

Right next door to our main building in Whitehorse Lane is ‘the Annexe’ – a drop-in centre run by The Salvation Army. Between the hours of 10am and 2pm every weekday, we offer free tea, coffee and biscuits, a place to rest for a while, and the offer of a friendly chat.

The Annexe is staffed by volunteers who are always ready to listen and help where they can.

Employment Plus Local

As well as the above, The Salvation Army runs a special programme in some areas of the country called Employment Plus Local, where those who are unemployed are invited to come to our centres to receive help in searching for jobs over the internet, as well as prepare for interviews and future employment.

In Canterbury this takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 2pm in the Annexe, as part of its weekly drop-in centre programme. Volunteers who have past experience in human resources and internet skills are on hand to offer help and advice in an informal and comfortable setting. There is no need to book – all are welcome, simply turn up!
