Second Model Railway Exhibition raises funds

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April 2015 saw our second Model Railway Exhibition, raising funds for the community work in Canterbury.

This year the event was held at the Cartwright and Kelsey Primary School in Ash which allowed us to run a two-day event. There were ten layouts exhibited and several traders present. Although the attendance was down on last year, both the exhibitors and traders had a profitable weekend. It’s always fun to play trains!

There was a mix of traditional railway modelling of several gauges together with a special Thomas The Tank Engine layout and a Thomas road and rail layout especially for the younger children and their obvious excitement was a joy to behold. Also in attendance was an original vintage (c.1950s) Hornby Dublo 3 rail layout.

Approximately £350 was raised over the weekend to help support the Annexe drop-in centre which is open every weekday between 10am and 2pm, serving free tea, coffee, soup and more. Additionally, emergency clothing, bedding and food parcels are available. Employment Plus Local operates every Tuesday and Thursday offering assistance to jobseekers.
