Canterbury SA welcomes new Adherent
During our morning meeting, we were delighted to welcome Karen Garrould as an adherent member of The Salvation Army in Canterbury.
Karen has been coming to our services since January of this year, but has been a familiar face within The Annexe for nearly eight months after being invited along by a friend.
As part of the service, led by Corps Officer Major Mandy Sands, Karen gave a word of testimony revealing how she came to the decision to become an adherent. Before attending our church, she had tried many of the other churches within Canterbury but none of them felt right for her. She spoke of the warm welcome she received at The Salvation Army and the support from members of the Corps at a difficult time in her life. Recently, she has felt a great sense of God’s presence in her life which has given her peace, forgiveness and release.
Over the past few weeks, certain words from Charles Wesley’s hymn “And can it be” have been going around in Karen’s head:
As a church family, we sang this song with Karen as she confirmed her commitment. We hope you will join with us as we continue to pray for Karen and her family at this time.
